This year I decided to make an advent calendar for the boys using envelopes stuck to the fridge each morning, with an activity for us to do:
- Put up the Christmas tree
- Make a crown
- Picnic up Bluff Hill
- LOLLIES (repeated a few times when the weather packed in)
- Movie day
- Beach
- Park
- Walk to the Redwoods
- Fish & Chips at the beach
- Bike rides
The envelopes also helped the boys realise they weren't allowed to open the presents yet either - I wrote x number of sleeps on each one. See, last year we had the
The last calendar entry was to go camping. It was brilliant. We pitched our new tent on Mum and Dads lawn and camped out for two nights. How was it? Well can you say FREEZING!!!!!!! It was seriously cold - I was certain I wouldn't be able to see in the morning as my eye balls had frozen!
The first night was very tiring with two boys not wanting to go to sleep due to excitement of 1. Christmas, and 2. sleeping in the new tent, on airbeds, in their sleeping bags. I didn't sleep much either due to crazy excitement! Then Christmas morning started for us with a PJ/sleeping bag party at 4.50am!!!!!! I kid you not! Clearly I am just a big kid at heart cause I thought it was brilliant.
After having such a small amount of sleep, the day went surprisingly well. Not to many tears or tantrums - from me! What we weren't expecting though was for Crazy 1 to get a surprise Christmas present - Chicken Pox! Hideous things! Thankfully he hasn't been that unwell with them - usual self but with butt ugly spots.
We are now waiting on Crazy 2 to get a break out - no doubt they will appear as we are due to head away camping!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that the New Year brings you lots of joy and blessing
Till next year..........
