Cereal Product Review

I was asked a few weeks back whether our household were cereal eaters and would I want to participate in a new cereal review.  I'm not really one for writing reviews, as I never know what to write, but thought there is no harm in trying.

Currently we go through 8 Weetbix each morning - and that is just for my two boys! So was a bit nervous not knowing what was coming.  Then D day came and there was the mystery box on the front door step.  There wasn't 1, or 2 but 3 boxes of YUMO muesli by Be Natural, AND two boxes of their muesli bars for us to try.

So what did I think.

At first glance I thought this looks yum, my kids are SO not going to eat this, and would I buy this off the shelf???

Starting with the first one - this looks yum.  Yes it does and yes it is.  We started with the Pink Lady Apple & Flame Raisin.

For those after a wholesome and soothing start to the day with a bit more fruit we have created a combination of apples pieces, including Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples, two of our favourites. Mixed them with flame raisins, which are made from flame grapes, renowned for their sweet taste. Then combined them with our crunchy clusters made from linseed, pepita and amaranth and 5 whole grain flakes for extra crunch and goodness.

It is fabulous.  This has to be the first muesli I have tried where the grain flakes don't go soggy (my number 1 hate for any cereal).  In fact I was able to get my bowl full ready, tend to the two boys, put the kettle on, and then tuck in and it was still all crunchy.

I especially love the little clusters through out.

We have moved on to the Cashew, Almond, Hazlenut & Coconut box.  I was a little uncertain as there was no mention of fruit, so was there going to be much flavour - UM yes there is.  It is divine.

For those of you who love nuts as much as we do here is a sustaining breakfast with nuts. Nuts are naturally delicious and good for you. We've chosen cashews, almonds and hazelnuts and combined them with our crunchy clusters made from linseed, pepita and amaranth and 5 whole grain flakes for extra crunch and goodness.
We hope you're going to love this combination as much as we do!

Can't wait to start the last box, but going by these two, I'm sure it will be fantastic.

It’s not always easy to find a simple breakfast cereal that’s both light and wholesome so that’s why we’ve created the 5 whole grains flake cereal. Whole grains are one of nature’s super foods that help provide your body with the necessary vitamins and minerals. Using whole grains means you use the whole grain; the bran, the germ and the endosperm. Most importantly you retain the natural fibre. Eating a variety of grains is important but many foods contain just one. We’ve worked hard to put 5 whole grains in one simple flake! Our light crunchy flakes are a combination of wheat, oats, triticale, barley & rye.

So then - will my kids eat this and move away from their 4 Weetbix a day?

I think a picture speaks a thousand words.............

LOVES it!

This is #1 with the apple mix, and then today asked for seconds of the nut mix (was shocked as I didn't think he would like it).

#2 is too stuck in his ways and has stuck with his trusty Weetbix.

Lastly, would I buy this off the shelf?  I am sitting on the fence on that one.

Although the box colours look very 'earthy/natural' and healthy, it took a few seconds to work out which was the front and which was the back - this may though, be due to lack of sleep and hayfever!

And in terms of price - at the moment I would say no I wouldn't buy it.  Not because it is expensive/cheap ($4.99-$6.49) just because of the stage of life we are at - one income family with two healthy boys with big appetites!  I am into home baking, cooking etc, so currently make my own.  But I'm sure when life gets busier (becoming my boys personal taxi) this may not last.

So end verdict - it is delish and would highly recommend it! BUT for us we wouldn't buy it regularly due to the stage our family is at.

Go on, try it!
