Generational Family Love

This week I have enjoyed reading through my Grans diary from 1980 (the year I was born - young I KNOW!)  She is one totally inspirational lady.  Worked hard on the family orchard, faithfully looked after her grandchildren when needed, and shared many a laugh over family gathering dinners.

She used to pack a humungous (spelling???) picnic lunch for us grandies and take us for a walk from either our house in Flaxmere or my Uncles house in Lawn Road, all the way to their place in Havelock Road.  She was always a tresure hunter and taught us kids well.  We would scour the roadside as we walked.  I'm sure our parents were stoked when we came home with our treasures which usually included pinecones, sticks, feather etc.  Treasures in Grans eyes.

Her love for her family is evident in the way she writes her diary entries.  Every family members name (on birthday or wedding entires) begins Dear Joanne born, or Dear XXXX married today, or Dear XXXXX birthday.  She was one of a kind. You always knew you were special in Grans eyes.

This love has passed on to my Mum and to my siblings.

Sadly she passed away in 2007 and is still sorely missed.  She had the most amazing laugh and was always keen for a good chuckle.

We all still love you Gran xox
