Chicken Pox, Rain and Cabin Fever!!!!

What a week!  House bound with chicken pox and its now raining.  My poor hubby has realised that since Boxing Day he has only left the confines of our house to mow the lawns!

So what do you do when you have bored kids + hubby, its raining, and the POX?  Put on your gummies, grab a jacket and brolly and go jumping in the puddles!  As an extra incentive for the boys they were each given a gold coin for lollies from the dairy - I mean lets face it whats a few more lollies so soon after Christmas!!!

Best hubby and Dad in the world! xox
And where is Mum in all this - at home enjoying half an hour of peace and quiet!  I'm not silly!

Home @ 67

All week actually!

BTW, if you child is still to get these don't panic.  He has been absolutely fine with them.  Not really sick with fevers or anything and hasn't been scratching.  I have bathed him twice a day in water that I soaked rolled oats in or use 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda, and then smothered in Calamine lotion.  I also changed his clothes, PJ's and sheets everyday.

Great Holiday Read - A Home Companion

If you are looking for a great easy-read book for your holiday I highly recommend A Home Companion by Wendyl Nissen.  I received a copy for Christmas and read it in two days.

It is set out as a monthly journal and at the end of each month Wendyl shares her recipes for things like baby wipes, apple cider, house cleaner, window cleaner and a whole lot more.  This is from her website which sums it up nicely:

A Home Companion details Wendyl's year-long journey towards self sufficiency. The book details each home discovery as it happens - both the triumphs and the disasters - while Wendyl slowly sheds her corporate life and takes to wearing yards of muslin, leather sandals and forgets to straighten her hair.

A Home Companion is the book for any woman who finds herself yearning to get her hands covered in soil, rid her house of nasty chemicals, nurture her family and become a green goddess - even if it's just at the weekends.

I found it absolutely hilarious and really easy to read.  However there is a bit of a shock factor to it as well as she shares some of the ingredients/chemicals that are found in some everyday items that we have in our house.

Don't get me wrong, I am SO not a greeny, save the earth type of person, however I do think I will be changing some of the habits in our family.
